Historically Mezban is a traditional regional feast that serves the famous Mezbani meal consisting of steamed white rice and hot beef, usually along with other dishes like ‘chonar daal’ or curry of mung bean and beef fat chunks, ‘nolar kanzi’ or beef bone marrow soup, and the kala bhuna or dried beef with onions.

Mezban is a beef-dominated feast, which people in Chattogram have been arranging for hundreds of years. It is a must either for observing a funeral ritual or for arranging a family or social function. This dish, popularly known as ‘mejbani’, came out of its locality and found national appeal quite a long time ago.
